A number of years ago I was participating in a creativity course and the final assignment was to create something that told about where we came from, where we were right then, and where we desired to go. I created the song Movin' On as my final project. 

So here it is: my life in three short verses!

Movin’ On

For years I floundered in despair.
I didn’t know that Life was there.
I was chained by secrets I dared not share—
Silenced by a voiceless fear.
Then a miracle came and let me see
The many burdens I’d brought with me
And the chance to finally be free—
To be movin’ on …

Movin’ on. Movin’ on.
Yesterday is dead and gone,
And I’m movin’ on.

I step from the darkness into the Light.
Though it stings my eyes, I'll be all right.
This new day is a wondrous sight.
I embrace it and I hold it dear.
Now yesterday has no hold on me—
I do my best and I let it be,
And joy is all I bring with me
As I’m movin’ on…
